Emergency Text and Voice Messaging

Bay College has subscribed to e2Campus to send time-sensitive emergency communication to students, faculty and staff who opt-in. By employing a variety of electronic communication tools, such as text messaging, email, and RSS feeds, emergency messages can be sent simultaneously to registered campus community members via cell phone, home phone, and WiFi enabled devices.

All information you provide to the site is private and will not be shared. Bay College will only use the system in the event of a critical emergency. Registration is free, however your cell phone carrier may charge standard text messaging fees.

Campus Weather Alerts

Students are automatically enrolled into the BayAlert system soon after enrolling in classes. We announce weather alerts early in the morning before classes start if there is a closure due to severe weather or mechanical failure. The warnings will also be issued through the college email system to students, faculty, and staff.

Timely Warnings

In the event that a situation arises, either on or off campus, that, in the judgment of campus personnel, constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat, a campus wide “timely warning” will be issued through the college’s communication systems. Depending on the particular circumstance the College may also post a notice on the College website, the myBay portal, and notify local media. In such instances, a copy of the notice will also be distributed to each campus student apartment.

The timely warning statement will also provide instructions on what actions you should take. A timely warning is meant to provide information so you can make decisions about your personal safety. For example, if college personnel are aware of someone stealing items on campus, a timely warning could be issued so you are aware and can take extra measures to keep your valuables safe. Or, as another example, if college personnel receive complaints about a person exposing themselves in the parking lots, they may issue a timely warning so you are more aware of your surroundings.

Anyone with information warranting a timely warning should report the circumstances to a campus security authority immediately.
